The Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) has published a notice clarifying the use of the updated taxonomy included in the European Banking Authority's (EBA) reporting framework version 4.3 for the 2027 AML risk assessment data collection. The taxonomy supports AMLA's first risk assessment exercise, which will help identify entities that should fall under AMLA's direct supervision pursuant to the AMLA Regulation.

AMLA explains that the version 4.3 taxonomy is intended solely for preparatory purposes, allowing reporting entities and solution providers to familiarize themselves with the data model and prepare their systems ahead of the 2027 reporting exercise. It should not be used for regulatory submissions to national competent authorities, the EBA, or AMLA.
The authority also announces that reporting framework version 4.4 is expected in September 2026. The updated release will incorporate feedback from the 2026 data collection exercise, distinguish between unavailable data and genuine zero values, and introduce two additional data points before the taxonomy is finalized for official 2027 reporting.
Financial institutions that may become subject to AMLA's direct supervision, as well as reporting solution providers, should continue their implementation work using version 4.3 for testing and preparation only, while monitoring the forthcoming version 4.4, which is expected to form the basis of the official 2027 reporting framework.
